Meet the Team

Dr. Chinisci earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1978 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1984. He has served as an optometrist for the Indian Health Service and contact lens consultant for Sunsoft Corporation, a national contact lens company. 

Dr. Magnus received his undergraduate education at Dartmouth College and his Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in 1981. He completed both an internship with State University of New York College of Optometry and a residency in hospital-based optometry at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque. 

Dr. Melisa Hockett is a native of New Mexico, graduating from St. Pius X High School. She completed her Bachelors of Administration in accounting at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. While at NSU, Dr. Hockett worked as an intern in the Contact Lens Clinic of Northeastern’s College of Optometry. She continued her graduate studies to earn her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry. She was the recipient of several contact lens awards including the American Optometric Association Cornea and Contact Lens Section Student Research award.

Dr. Lauren Byington earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University. She continued her education at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Byington was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa honor society and was awarded the 3rd year Clinician Award. She was granted a research fellowship in Vision Therapy and presented a poster at the COVD conference in 2012.

Dr. Estrada is a Albuquerque native who earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New Mexico in 2011. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree at Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry in Southern California in 2016.

Dr. Sandoval earned her Bachelors' in both Biology and Psychology at New Mexico State University. She graduated from University of Houston College or Optometry then continued with a double residency in Bran Injury Vision Rehabilitation and Ocular Pathology at Audie Murphy VA.
